December in The Hamptons

December is here, and holiday cheer and festivities are all around. Regardless of how you celebrate, seeing beautiful holiday lights is a beloved tradition that anyone can appreciate.

The Hamptons offer incredible light displays throughout the towns. Our top picks include:

The Christmas House, 1241 Old Country Road, Riverhead. Do not miss this attraction which is a house with ten rooms that are filled to the brim with lights, music and decorations.

Light Up Sag Harbor, Sag Harbor has two lighting events: a tree lighting on December 4th that begins with a candlelight stroll down Main Street at 4:45 p.m. and a celebration on December 19th that begins at 2 p.m. and includes caroling, a decorating contest and hot chocolate for all.

Montauk: Just a 15-minute drive from the hotel, downtown Montauk is lit up--literally- during the holidays in the most photogenic way. Take a drive or walk through the main thoroughfare to catch the spectacle which includes a towering tree, adorned storefronts and the lighthouse and windmill festooned with lights.

Catch a Show: With the cold weather here, there's nothing more appealing than passing away an afternoon or evening at the movies. What better way to get your fix than at the newly renovated Sag Harbor Cinema? Following a devastating fire in December 2016, The Sag Harbor Cinema- a true gem of the Hamptons- finally reopened at the end of March. Known for its screenings of independent and foreign films, the theater first opened in 1915 and was named Sag Harbor Cinema in 1978. The original 480-seat theater is now divided into two. There’s also a third 40-seater room for screenings.

The lineup in December includes House of Gucci, Belfast, The Power of the Dog and West Side Story.
